Chapters 1 - 3

1. Describe Duke Evans character.

2. At the end of Ch 2 Gabrielle is NOT looking forward to going to fifth grade, explain why.

3. “I looked around to see who would yell at Mr. Evans for saying that, but all the adults were looking at the ground, shuffling their feet.”  This quote is from pg 15, we learn a lot about the people in this community from this quote. What does it tell us about the people in this community?

4. Do you think Frita’s actions toward Duke helped or hurt Gabrielle? Explain why.

1. Why won’t Gabriel tell his parents the truth about what happened?
